THE LAO ARTS AND CULTURAL FOUNDATION, INC
501(c)(3)  Established May 23, 2014

Welcomes you to the Official Website of the LACF of Florida and to tell you about our unique
community located here in Tampa Bay, part of a larger national community of the People of Laos,
(Those refugees who have re-established themselves in the United States after the war in Viet Nam ended)
The purpose of this website is about education, history, insight and dreams.

If I asked a hundred people as to what they knew about the country or the LAO people,
I would usually get a blank stare from more than three quarters of them.

There are many parts to this story of the Lao people.  Who they were before the war,  existing in an agrarian landlocked culture, and upended by a cruel and devastating ’Silent and Secret War’  with thousands killed.

Many went into concentration camps by the Viet Cong and those who left LAOS
struggled for years in the refugee camps on the borders of Thailand awaiting resettlement.

But this is  also a story of the present, and as we know what brought them here,
now we’ll also tell you their hopes and their dreams for the future.

This is more than a website, or a facebook page, a you-tube or instagram, this is an insight to
a culture that has survived tremendous odds against them and pressing on to go forward and the past, the present and the future.

LACFFLORIDA.com is the voice of the LACF emanating in TAMPA BAY Florida. We are a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization and was established in 2014 to preserve LAO Heritage and Culture and to represent the interest of their diverse community.

Caution: Some of the chapters of their history were
directly reported, and are graphic in their nature.
